Fun Night at Bar Turns into $50K Keno Prize for Bel Air Woman

Carolyn Seifert, of Bel Air, said it was all fun and games during an evening out on the town leading to her winning $50,020 playing Keno.

It was a fun time last week for Carolyn Seifert and her friends when they were out for a night on the town. The Bel Air resident played multiple rounds of the Maryland Lottery’s Keno game and went home with a $50,020 prize.

Carolyn said Sept. 8 after claiming her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore that her big night started by winning a few hundred dollars on a six-spot game. Then she decided to advance to a seven-spot game with the Super Bonus option.

She looked at her ticket and saw many matching numbers, but wasn’t sure if it was a perfect match.

“I didn’t think I got all seven numbers. I thought I only won $5,000,” she said.

Her friend at the bar took out his Lottery app and scanned the ticket to reveal she had all the numbers for a $50,000 win.

The winning was contagious. Her friend with the app won $125 on Racetrax and another bar patron won $375 on another Racetrax draw.

“We all bought drinks for each other. It was a fun night for everyone,” Carolyn said.

She played a quick pick the numbers of 5, 32, 49, 61, 62, 73 and 78 on a Saturday evening game. Carolyn is the biggest Keno winner so far in 2025 and her prize is the largest on the game since another Bel Air resident won $60,000 playing Keno in December.

Carolyn, who is a salesperson, said she plans to use her winnings to square her finances and will look into investing the balance.

Steelefish Grille at 660 Boulton Street in Bel Air was the scene of the action. The Harford County retailer receives a $500 bonus for selling the high-value Keno ticket.
