A St. Mary’s County woman used numbers from an old car to win $50,000 on Pick 5.
According to the grandmother, her husband has an old car in the driveway that she wants him to remove. While she was looking at the eyesore one day, she decided to use the situation to win some cash. She noticed the unique five-digit number of the license plate and decided to play it. She had been using the combination for more than a year when it hit in April.
She was checking the winning numbers on her phone but had trouble reading without her glasses.
“Wait a minute. That looks like my numbers,” she said.
The medical worker had a perfect match. She said she was full of excitement when she realized she had a winner. Since she placed a $1 straight bet, she won $50,000.
The big winner plans to use the extra cash to pay bills and the rest to spoil her grandchildren.
The winner said she is a loyal player.
“I just stick to Pick 5. That is my game,” she said.
Atrium Spirits at 37680 Mohawk Drive is glad she decided to play her favorite game at their Charlotte Hall store. For selling the winning ticket, the St. Mary’s County retailer picks up a $500 bonus.
