For the second day in a row, a Maryland Lottery player from Prince George’s County has claimed a $57,777 Triple Red 7s Tripler.
A Laurel woman claimed the game’s first top prize on May 28 and an Upper Marlboro man came into Lottery headquarters May 29 to claim the second.
The most recent winner said when he claimed at Lottery headquarters that he purchased three scratch-offs at a grocery store. The first $5 ticket he played was a $20 winner and the next $20 scratch-off gave him a $50 win. He continued to feel lucky.
“I was on a roll and I was trying to keep it going,” the retired school employee said.
Then he “kept it going” by scratching the $5 Triple Red 7 Tripler and saw “Autowin” over the amount $57,777. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He said he was in shock, but very happy.
According to the big winner, he wants to use his prize to take a “much-needed” vacation, but plans to save some of his winnings too.
“The first thing I am going to do is put it in the bank,” he explained.
The Prince George’s County resident purchased his ticket in Calvert County at the Weis Market at 750 Prince Frederick Boulevard in the county seat, Prince Frederick. The grocery store receives a 1 percent bonus of $577 for selling the ticket.
The Triple Red 7s family of games went on sale on May 15. The Triple Red 7s Tripler game has six unclaimed top prizes on the market, along with other prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
