A Maryland Lottery player from Owings Mills has been an avid Pick 5 player ever since the game’s inception in 2022. Recently, he used his wife’s birthday as inspiration for a Pick 5 number combination.
Playing 12912 as a straight bet not just once, but twice, he ended up with a $100,000 pay day when his numbers matched what was drawn on the evening of Aug. 23.
He bought his $1 bet tickets at the Royal Farms store at 10988 Red Run Boulevard in Owings Mills.
The Baltimore County resident, who claimed his prize Sept. 4 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, said it felt quite amazing to learn he had won a such a large prize. When he realized he had won, he called and shared the great news with his wife, the person who inspired his top-prize winning numbers.
He plans to use his winnings to pay bills and prepare for retirement. He has worked as an aerospace machinist for the past 40 years and enjoys his work. When not working, he enjoys strength training at the gym.
Royal Farms will receive bonuses totaling $1,000 for selling the top-tier winners.
