After 20 years of playing the same six Bonus Match 5 numbers, a player from White Plains finally won the top prize – three times for a total of $150,000.
“First I had to call my sister to read the numbers,” the winner said Sept. 8 when she claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
She was pretty sure she had won, so she decided to call her sister because her husband isn’t a Lottery player.
“I had to talk to someone who gambles!” the winner said, husband at her side at Lottery headquarters.
“I was the last one to know!” the husband said.
The winner recalled her reaction wasn’t especially animated when she realized she had won, in part because it was around 11 p.m.
Then she tried to go to sleep, but the excitement delayed her slumber.
The winner and her husband are retired federal employees, and they anticipate using the extra money to do a few things around the house.
The tickets were purchased at White Plains Wine & Spirits at 4425 Crain Highway in White Plains. The Charles County store receives bonuses totaling $1,500.
