Baltimore Contractor Eases into $53,144 Racetrax™ Progressive Jackpot Win

A recently retired Baltimore contractor has added another memorable chapter to his history of Lottery wins after claiming a $53,144 RacetraxTM progressive jackpot prize.

The longtime Lottery player enjoys trying his luck with scratch-offs, FAST PLAY games and Racetrax. This time, however, a last-minute change in routine made all the difference.

On the day of the win, June 18, the player had planned to have his wife stop at their usual Lottery retailer, a Sunoco gas station, to purchase his tickets. Instead, she decided to visit Niki Food Mart and Lottery at 6301 Kenwood Avenue in Rosedale. She also made another unexpected change, choosing a quick pick selection for his Racetrax horses instead of using the horses he had originally planned to play.

After the wife brought the tickets home, the couple let them sit for a few days before checking the results.

“My jaw hit the floor,” the winner said as he recalled discovering the $53,144 prize.

The Baltimore resident visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on July 24 to claim his prize, but it wasn’t his first big-win rodeo. He recalls having won two substantial lottery prizes more than 20 years ago.

Now enjoying retirement, the winner plans to use his latest windfall to pay bills and make life a little more comfortable.

When they’re not playing Lottery games, he and his wife enjoy taking trips to Ocean City, visiting local casinos and challenging themselves in escape rooms. An avid gardener, he is especially looking forward to spending plenty of time tending his garden this summer.

Niki Food Mart will also benefit from the big win, receiving a $531.44 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning Racetrax ticket.
