His $1 straight bet results in $50,000 prize
A professional locksmith man was driving to work when he discovered the key to a good day – winning $50,000 playing Pick 5.
While en route, the Baltimore man decided to check the April 3 Pick 5 winning midday drawing numbers on his phone. He had placed a $1 straight bet on the numbers 99000. Much to his surprise, he had won!
“I was trying to remain calm. I called my wife to tell her that I had won,” he said.
According to the 64-year-old, the digits he played are random numbers he selected a few years ago and continues to play twice every day. “You have to play it every day. You have to be consistent. If you don’t play it, then it will hit without you winning,” he told Lottery officials.
While undecided on how he will spend the money, the lucky player said the prize will probably go toward helping family members and paying bills.
He bought his winning ticket at Alameda Food Mart Exxon at 5656 The Alameda in Baltimore. For selling the ticket, the Baltimore City retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
