Hospital employee claims top prize on FAMILY FEUD® game
A Baltimore resident who bought Maryland Lottery tickets almost daily for years recently changed his game of choice and landed in the Winner’s Circle at Lottery headquarters. He just claimed a $50,000 top prize on a FAMILY FEUD® scratch-off!
The 56-year-old told Lottery officials that he recently changed his routine. A loyal player of the daily Pick games, he listened when something told him to give instant tickets a try a few weeks ago.
“I don’t know what it was,” said the hospital employee. “Maybe I saw somebody win, or heard about a big win. All I know is that out of nowhere, I started getting the urge to switch to scratch-offs.”
Having played the $5 FAMILY FEUD game several times in the last two weeks with some success, he again chose the instant ticket when he stopped at Baltimore’s Crazy John’s on East Baltimore Street. He was on the way to work when he visited the Baltimore Lottery retailer.
“I scratched it there in the store and was blown away when I saw the $50,000 match,” Tuesday’s big winner reported. “I kept my cool, though. I checked it on the scanner to be sure and went to work.”
The FAMILY FEUD game has been available for a month, having debuted April 18 with 10 $50,000 top prizes. Six remain in circulation as well as 10 $5,000 second-tier prizes.
Players who don’t win instantly can enter their non-winning FAMILY FEUD scratch-offs into a second-chance promotion for a chance to win cash. The deadline for the first drawing, which will award a $50,000 prize to one winner, is May 23. The next two drawings in June and July will award five $10,000 winners and 10 $5,000 winners. Our Baltimore player isn’t the only one who got lucky with this win. The owners of Crazy John’s at 410 East Baltimore Street will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the $50,000 top-prize winning instant ticket.
