Rainy Day Boredom Leads to Extra Bonus Match 5 Play, Big Payday

Claims $150,000 in three top prizes won in May 7 drawing

A Millington man enjoys playing Bonus Match 5 every day. When pouring rain disrupted his outdoor plans, the bored 63-year-old broke with his routine and bought two additional tickets in the May 7 Bonus Match 5 drawing. The result: he won three $50,000 top prizes for a total of $150,000.

The Queen Anne’s County resident plays the daily game using a combination of personal sets of numbers and lines of quick-pick numbers. While at Outpost #544 in Millington, he purchased three $6 tickets, each with the same four lines of personal numbers and five lines of different quick-pick numbers.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 8, 9, 18, 28 and 38, which were one of his personal sets of numbers that appeared on each of the three tickets. The winner said the numbers have personal significance. He told Lottery officials that he was 28 when he met his wife on the 18th of August in 1987 and they were wed in 1988.

When asked of his plans for his prize, the winner said he will give the funds to his wife as a combination late Mother’s Day / birthday present.

Also lucky is Outpost #544 located at 1921 Dudley Corners Road in Millington. The Queen Anne’s County business will receive a $1,500 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling three top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 tickets.
