Convenience Store Run Leads Westminster Woman to Big Payday

Claims $51,247 prize on Bonus Match 5 ticket

Every so often, a Westminster woman will decide to play a Lottery game and usually that game is a scratch-off. She rarely picks a draw game. However, during a recent run to the store to buy cigarettes, the Carroll County resident decided to play Bonus Match 5 and is now celebrating a top-prize win of $51,247.

The grandmother purchased her ticket for the March 3 drawing at Pantry One Food Mart & Deli in Randallstown. In the rare instance that she does play Bonus Match 5, the player uses a specific set of random numbers. The mother of five adult children played the numbers 1, 6, 9, 25 and 36 on the $6 ticket, which gave her five matching numbers for a $50,000 top prize. And, the winning didn’t stop there! She played nine boards total and a few of the other boards contained matches, giving her an extra $1,247 to add to the $50,000 prize.

“I’m still pinching myself,” the lucky lady said, explaining that she is still shocked about her Lottery luck.

The player has long worked as an office secretary and has no intention of retiring because of the big win. When not working, she enjoys sewing and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. In fact, when asked of her plans for her prize, she says she has nothing specific in mind other than spending some funds on her family.

Pantry One Food Mart & Deli gets to celebrate, too. The Baltimore County business located at 5100 Old Court Road collected a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket. This is the eighth top-prize winning ticket sold in the game in 2024.
