Claims progressive jackpot in Home Run Riches games
A Sussex County, Delaware man who enjoys playing Lottery games in Maryland claimed an $82,478 FAST PLAY Home Run Riches progressive jackpot prize this week. This is the lucky player’s second big progressive jackpot win in two years.
The car dealership employee was getting off work earlier this week when he stopped at Corner Market in Delmar to purchase Lottery games. He chose a FAST PLAY ticket because of his previous luck and he also bought a Pick 4 ticket.
The big winner checked his $5 FAST PLAY ticket in the car and noticed right away that he scored the jackpot prize. However, he still went back into the store for the cashier to confirm his brush with Lottery luck.
“The cashier said, ‘You’ve won again,’” recalled the player, smiling at the memory. “She showed more excitement than I did.”
The happy grandfather told Lottery officials that in 2021, he won $94,898 on another one of the Maryland Lottery’s FAST PLAY progressive jackpot games. That game was also purchased at Wicomico County’s Corner Market.
The loyal player fixed up his house and completed some projects with the money from the first win. He plans to put his most recent windfall in the bank to use as needed.
This is the 6th jackpot-winning ticket sold in the game since it began in March. The retailer that sold the lucky ticket, Corner Market located at 1 South Bi-State Boulevard, is benefiting once again from the winner’s lucky purchase. The retailer will receive a bonus of $824.78, which is 1% of the prize, from the Lottery for selling a jackpot-winning FAST PLAY ticket worth $20,000 to $99,999.
The Home Run Riches game has a progressive jackpot that starts at $40,000 and increases with the sale of each ticket until a winning ticket is purchased. There are 14 progressive jackpots remaining in the game. Home Run Riches also has a second-chance promotion with prizes of $500 to $50,000. The entry deadlines for the final two drawings is Aug. 28.
