Senior care provider wins $50,430 in April 10 drawing
A retired federal employee from Prince George’s County stopped by Lottery headquarters this week with a Bonus Match 5 ticket in her hand and a smile on her face. The game has long been her favorite and after years of winning lower-tier prizes, she finally hit the big one, the game’s $50,000 top prize. She also matched enough winning numbers on other lines of her ticket to score an additional $430.
Important family dates were behind her lucky win, said the Largo resident. “I use mainly birthdays for my numbers and have had a lot of success, but never anything like this.” She became aware of her good fortune in the April 10 drawing late Sunday night.
“I take care of an elderly person and had just helped her to bed when I checked the Lottery website. Because I was exhausted and the house was quiet, when I saw that all of my numbers had come out, all I could do was look heavenward in gratitude and start crying.”
The 60-year-old winner will put her winnings to work clearing debt.
Maryland’s latest Bonus Match 5 winner bought her winning $4 ticket from Silver Hill Exxon at 5921 Marlboro Pike in District Heights. A $500 bonus goes to the store from the Lottery for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning ticket.
