A Bonus Match 5 quick pick ticket brings a $50,000 top prize win to a father and daughter from Baltimore County, who often play together.
Earlier this month, the dad of the winning duo stopped by his favorite retailer to buy some Lottery tickets, including a Bonus Match 5 ticket. The retired warehouse manager then went home for a nap. The next morning, he checked his tickets on the Lottery app and was shocked at the message that appeared.
“The message on my phone said to take it to the Lottery,” he smiled. “I knew it had to be the big prize, because I wouldn’t get that kind of message for a smaller prize.”
The Randallstown player, knew he had to immediately tell his daughter to tell her the good news.
“He came upstairs and showed me the ticket and said, ‘I told you we were going to visit the Lottery one day’,” she shared with Lottery officials when she came with her father to claim the prize.
The winning duo still wanted to be sure, so they went to their local Lottery retailer who scanned their ticket and confirmed the $50,000 win. They visited Lottery headquarters last week to claim the top prize.
The father and daughter team plan to share the $50,000 winnings and will also pay some bills, make some home improvements and put what is left in the bank.
The Lottery retailer that sold the winning Bonus Match 5 ticket also wins. Lakeside Liquors at 9229 Lakeside Boulevard in Owings Mills will receive a bonus of $500 from the Maryland Lottery.
