Fort Washington Woman’s Third 30X Cash Ticket Delivers $30,000 Prize

A Fort Washington woman followed her older brother’s advice to buy at least three scratch-off tickets at a time, and the strategy paid off with a $30,000 prize on the Maryland Lottery’s 30X Cash game, a $30 ticket.

The longtime Lottery player enjoys several Lottery games, especially Pick 3 and Pick 4 as well as the occasional scratch-off. During a recent lunch break, she stopped at Marlboro Liquors at 5725 Crain Highway in Upper Marlboro to purchase three scratch-offs, following her brother’s advice to never buy just one ticket.

The first two tickets were non-winners, but the third revealed a $90 prize.

Rather than calling it a day, she decided to put her $90 winnings toward three more scratch-offs.

Once again, the first two tickets came up empty. Then she scratched the third.

This time, she uncovered the $30,000 prize.

The retail worker was thrilled by the unexpected win and shared the news with her three daughters, who were just as excited.

Two of her daughters volunteered to drive her to Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Oct. 16, where they accompanied her to claim her prize.

A devoted mother and grandmother, the Fort Washington resident plans to use some of her winnings to help her grandchildren and put some money away for herself.

“Put a little away,” she said.

When she is not working or spending time with family, she enjoys watching shows on TV.

Marlboro Liquors will receive a $300 bonus will for selling the top-prize winning ticket.

The 30X Cash game launched Sept. 18 with 320 top prizes of $30,000 each. This is the sixth top prize winner to be claimed, leaving 314 at the $30,000 level.
