Fortunate Silver Spring Great-Grandma Wins Again

Claims Bonus Match 5 $50,000 top prize using numbers from a dream

A 77-year-old Lottery fan is celebrating today after numbers she dreamt about years ago led to a big win for the third time. The lucky Montgomery County player’s new $50,000 win came from matching all five numbers on the first line of her Bonus Match 5 ticket from the July 16 drawing.

The big winner told Lottery officials that in 2008 she had two dreams about the same numbers: 7, 11, 33, 35 and 39. The Silver Spring resident played them, won $50,000 and has played the same numbers ever since, leading to a $50,000 win in 2019, her current $50,000 windfall this week and numerous smaller prizes.

“My faith is strong,” said the janitorial services business owner. “Finances were tight back then, so I prayed about it and then had a dream about those numbers.”

Her recent win occurred on Sunday evening. The lucky lady had come home after playing Bonus Match 5, several Pick games and Keno at Williams Beer & Wine in Burtonsville. She checked her ticket by calling the Lottery’s winning numbers line.

“When they read back the Bonus Match 5 numbers, I was like, “Well, those numbers sound familiar,’” she said, smiling. “But, I didn’t scream! I kept my calm.”

The married great-grandmother chose to keep the winning news to herself. She shared with Lottery officials, when she claimed the prize, that she’ll use the winnings for dental work and a vacation.

The Lottery retailer, Williams Beer & Wine, located at 15440 Old Columbia Pike is also celebrating this win. For selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket, the Montgomery County business will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery. This is one of 17 $50,000 top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 tickets sold in 2023.
