Frederick Woman Credits “Golden Rule” for $50,000 Scratch-Off Win

Generous woman wins Cash to Go top prize

A Frederick woman is a believer in the “Golden Rule”, which encourages people to treat others as they would like to be treated. She says she gives money to family and charity. It seems her generosity has paid off as she won $50,000 on Cash to Go scratch-off.

“I believe when you give back, it will come back to you,” she told Lottery officials after her big win.

According to the retired retail worker, she scratched the ticket at home and noticed that it appeared to have a match. She was in disbelief and took it to the store for confirmation. When the clerk verified the win, she was all smiles.

“I was happy. I was very happy,” she explained.

The Frederick County resident said she has no unique plans for her prize.

“I’m going to do what I always do,” the loyal player said. “Pay bills and buy groceries.”

The top-prize winning ticket was purchased at the Giant Eagle at 1305 West 7th Street in Frederick. The Frederick County retailer also has reason to celebrate as they will receive a $500 bonus for selling the ticket.

The $5 Cash to Go scratch-off went on sale on Nov. 27. The game started off with seven top prizes of $50,000 and two remain, along with prizes that range from $5 to $5,000.
