Friday the 13th Proves Lucky for Glen Burnie Woman

Wins $50,000 playing Cash Money scratch-off – 3rd big win in six years

Many people cringe when the 13th falls on a Friday and fret about facing a day filled with bad luck. That was definitely not the case for an 82-year-old Anne Arundel County woman.

Her luck was great that day, as she scratched her way to a $50,000 win playing the Cash Money instant ticket. On Friday the 13th, the retired nurse stopped at her favorite Lottery retailer, Doc’s F&B Liquors, specifically to play her numbers and buy a few scratch-off games. To her surprise, one of the games that she scratched off in the store was a $50,000 winner.

“I knew right away I won,” she said. “And, what’s crazy, is that my other two wins were bought in this very same store.” This lucky lady won $50,000 in 2017 and $100,000 in 2019, both on popular scratch-off games.

In disbelief, the Glen Burnie woman told her husband about her Lottery luck before heading home with the winning scratch-off. She shared the news with her son, who double-checked the $5 instant ticket for her.

“I think I was more excited than she was,” said her son, who accompanied her to claim the prize. “I’m so happy for her.” The great-grandmother claimed her $50,000 fortune this week. She told Lottery officials that she plans to use the winnings to help her family.

Also benefiting from her latest win is the lucky retailer that sold her the Cash Money instant ticket. Doc’s F&B Liquors, located at 7067 B&A Boulevard in Glen Burnie, will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.

The Cash Money game went on sale in December 2022 and is still loaded with prizes. The game has six $50,000 top prizes remaining along with 14 unclaimed $5,000 prizes, 19 $1,000 prizes and more than 900,000 others ranging from $5 to $500.
