Hagerstown Player Loads Up on Winnings with $500 Loaded Game

Claims $50,000 top prize on $5 scratch-off

Happy days are here again for a lucky Hagerstown man, who discovered a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off among his recent Lottery purchases.

The 38-year-old is a loyal scratch-off player accustomed to winning small prizes. In fact, the day he bought his winning $5 game at Your Country Store in Hagerstown, the player claimed several prizes on winning scratch-offs and decided to buy another $30 worth of games. He bought two $500 Loaded scratch-offs, two $5 Ravens X5 scratch-offs and one $10 game.

Then, following his routine, he headed home and set them on the counter. “A couple of hours later, I sat on the couch,” he said, “and I started scratching.”

One of the $500 Loaded games had a matching “02” in the third row, so the startled player scratched off the prize beneath the “02.” The prize: $50,000. “I looked at it three times!” he said.

The Washington County resident and his fiancée cheered and screamed a little in celebration, said the winner. He is also a fan of the Lottery’s second-chance promotions and enters his non-winning scratch-offs into drawings through My Lottery Rewards. He is hoping 2022 will be the year he wins a second-chance prize, too.

After claiming the prize on Jan. 10, the lucky winner said he and his fiancée plan to use the funds to pay bills and pay off his truck loan. Your Country Store is a winner, too. The Washington County Lottery retailer located at 17035 Fairview Road in Hagerstown earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off in the game.
