Hard-Working Snow Hill Resident Wins $100,000 Scratch-off Prize

Instant ticket fan takes home top prize playing Ultimate Cash game

A 41-year-old Eastern Shore man works hard and plays hard. A farm manager at a plant nursery, he was leaving for the day to head to another job as a landscaper when he stopped to buy gas and Lottery games. His pitstop yielded a scratch-off prize worth $100,000!

The lucky player stopped at Royal Farms #167 in Salisbury and bought two $10 scratch-offs. He scanned the prize check area on both games and won $20. He then used $20 to buy two more $10 games, one of which was an Ultimate Cash instant ticket. The big winner again scanned the games’ prize check areas and a message he had never seen before popped up.

“It said to contact the Lottery claim office, so I scratched the ticket,” he said. “I almost had a heart attack when I saw all of those zeros.”

The Worcester County resident recalls that he kept staring at the scratch-off in disbelief. The married father of one decided he must tell his wife about the big win in person. After completing his work, the tired husband went home and showed her the winning scratch-off.

“I told her, ‘Our debt is paid,’” he said, smiling. “She was confused until I showed her the ticket.”

The lucky guy, still a little shocked, claimed his big prize this week at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He exclaimed that this has been “a pretty cool experience” and said he has big plans for his winnings. First, he will pay down some debts, make some home improvements, take a vacation, use some funds for Christmas and save the rest.

The Ultimate Cash scratch-off that went on sale in June still has five $100,000 top prizes remaining. There are also five $50,000 prizes available, 32 $10,000 prizes and many more prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.

The Lottery retailer that sold the $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off gets to share in all of the excitement. Royal Farms #167 located at 31954 Summer Drive in Salisbury will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
