HVAC Tech Keeps His Cool Despite Seeing $100,000 Scratch-off Win

Claims top prize on $100,000 Lucky instant ticket

A Crofton man who rarely plays Maryland Lottery games was in good company this week when Lady Luck crossed his path. The HVAC technician and his friend, who is a scratch-off fan, met up and his friend gifted him a $30 instant ticket to play for fun.

The $100,000 Lucky game is still loaded with 43 $100,000 top prizes and now has one less, thanks to the scratch-off newbie’s top-prize win. His friend, who works as a carpenter, bought the lucky game at 7-Eleven #11647 in Riverdale. They scanned the scratch-off at a different Lottery retailer, discovered the win and very quietly left the building with no one the wiser about their good fortune.

The 25-year-old winner has only shared news of his windfall with his family members and said $20 was the most he had ever won previously. He plans to share the windfall with his friend, saying, “It’s only right.”

The $100,000 Lucky game arrived in stores in September 2021. The lucky retailer that sold the winning instant ticket gets a nice load of cash, too. For selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, 7-Eleven #11647 located at 5415 Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale receives a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
