Quick-Pick Ticket Gives Future Retiree a $50,000 Powerball Prize

Prince George’s County man wins in July 11 drawing

An Oxon Hill man who plans to retire soon got an assist from Lady Luck that sets the stage for closing out his career. Retirement looks even sweeter now that he won $50,000 on a Powerball quick-pick ticket.

The 60-year-old says that he plays Lottery games regularly. On July 11, he visited F&W Convenience located at 974 East Swan Creek Road in Fort Washington to purchase his lucky $2 ticket. He checked the ticket for a win later that week and learned that he won the game’s third-tier prize. He was the only Marylander to win the $50,000 prize and one of seven nationwide to do so.

The Prince George’s County man’s plans for his prize include paying off bills and playing golf in his spare time.

Players still have time to get tickets for tonight’s Powerball drawing. The jackpot for the July 27 drawing has risen to $145 million, with a cash option of $85.7 million.
