Hyattsville Grandmother Scores $100,000 Prize on Scratch-Off Game

Six Money Bag Multiplier top prizes remain after Prince George’s County win

Accompanied by family members, a Hyattsville player was all smiles on May 24 when she claimed a $100,000 scratch-off prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The casual player tries her luck with a variety of Lottery games and has won “a few dollars here and there,” according to her grandson. The winner plans to divide her top-prize scratch-off win among her four daughters.

A Prince George’s County resident, she bought the winning Money Bag Multiplier instant ticket, a $10 game, at the Shell gas station at 5398 Queens Chapel Road in Hyattsville. The retailer receives a bonus of $1,000, equal to 1 percent of the prize, for selling a top-tier winning scratch-off.

The Money Bag Multiplier game is the third most popular game in Maryland, according to the Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-Offs chart. The game went live on April 24 with eight prizes at the top-tier $100,000 level, and the one claimed by the Hyattsville player reduces the number of unclaimed top prizes to six.

The game also has seven remaining prizes at the $50,000 level of the nine originally available on the starting date. At the $10,000 third-prize level, 21 of the original 30 prizes remain unclaimed.
