‘I Couldn’t Believe It!’ Belcamp Woman Says of $50K Powerball Win

A Harford County woman said she occasionally wins $2 to $4 on Powerball, but was in shock when she scanned her ticket and saw she was a $50,000 winner.

“I couldn’t believe it! I never thought I would win this much money,” she said Sept. 30 when she claimed the third-tier prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The winning numbers for the Aug. 3 drawing, the one she won, are 8-31-41-48-54; and the Powerball was 4. The winner matched four of the five first numbers plus the red Powerball for the third-tier $50,000 prize. She had a number 51 instead of a 31 and missed out on the $748 million jackpot, but said she was still happy with the prize. She plans to place some of her winnings into her saving account and spend the rest to remodel her bathroom.

“There are always home projects that need to be done,” she said with a smile.

The avid walker selected the quick pick option and she plans to keep playing Powerball.

Anchor Liquors at 1321 Riverside Parkway in Belcamp sold the $50,000 winner.

The Powerball has bounced back nicely since it was hit on Aug. 12. The next drawing, Saturday, Oct. 3, has an estimated annuity jackpot of $440 million with a one-time payment option of 183.1 million.
