The Baltimore Ravens don’t play until Sunday, but a Ravens fan claimed a big win on Purple Friday scratching his way to $50,000 on the $10 Ravens X10 game.
The Silver Spring man was scratching his ticket and saw he won $10,000. He continued to scratch and picked another ten grand. And then another. By the time he was done, he had $50,000 in total winnings.
“Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I was a winner that day,” he said with a smile when he claimed his winnings Oct. 2 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The grocery store worker is undecided on how is going to spend his winnings as he had not told his wife of his good fortune. While claiming, he had a picture taken of him holding a $50,000 Maryland Lottery check and planned to send it to her via text message as a surprise announcement.
Although he lives in Montgomery County in the heart of Commanders country, the winner grew up in the Baltimore area and is a big Ravens fan. He admitted it is tough living among the Commanders fans.
“There are a lot Washington fans near me,” he said laughing.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Seat Pleasant Save-a-Lot store at 5933 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Prince George’s County.
The Ravens X10 launched in July with four top prizes of $200,000, three of which remain unclaimed. The Silver Spring winner is the second person to claim a $50,000 second-tier prize and two remain at that level. Many other prizes are also unclaimed including four $10,000 prizes and tens of thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
Players can enter the Ravens second-chance promotion by submitting non-winning Ravens scratch-offs into their My Lottery Rewards accounts. They can then select which prize drawings they would like to enter. The next Ravens second-chance drawing will take place on Oct. 18.
