The Powerball jackpot continues to grow and it produced third-tier winners in Maryland most recently including a ticket worth $200,000 that was sold in College Park for last night’s drawing.
The ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven at 8900 Edmonston Road in Prince George’s County.
The winning numbers for the Wednesday, Sept. 30 drawing are: 4, 6, 23, 33, 44; and the Powerball was 13.
The College Park player matched four of the first five numbers drawn as well as the Powerball and paid an extra $1 for the Power Play option, which increased the prize by a randomly selected multiplier. It was that winner’s lucky night as the multiplier came up as X4 on Wednesday, increasing the prize from $50,000 to $200,000.
This is the fourth third-tier winner over the past two drawings. In Monday night’s drawing, a North Beach player won $150,000 and players in Lutherville and Middle River each won $50,000.
Overall, 13,470 Maryland Powerball players won prizes starting at $4 but no one has hit the Powerball jackpot since the Aug. 12 drawing. Saturday night’s jackpot is set at an estimated annuity value of $440 million, with a one-time payment option of $183.1 million.
The Lottery encourages the winners to sign the backs of their tickets and keep them in a safe location. All players have 182 days after the date of the drawing to claim the prize.
Instructions for claiming prizes are available on the How to Claim page. Prizes of more than $25,000 must be claimed through Lottery headquarters, either in person or by mail. Lottery headquarters is in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330, in Baltimore. An appointment is required to claim in person (no walk-ins). The appointment scheduling page shows all available appointment times.
Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights with a jackpot that starts at $20 million and grows after each drawing in which the jackpot is not won.
Tickets are $2 and are sold in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom. Five winning numbers are drawn from a range of 1 to 69, along with one winning Powerball number from a range of 1 to 26.
