IRS Employee Claims Top Prize on Bonus Match 5 Ticket

Player claims $50,000 prize on one $6 draw

A lucky Lottery enthusiast from Baltimore who works for the U.S. Internal Revenue Service has $50,000 in winnings to list on her 2022 taxes.

The Lottery fan, who plays games several times a week, said she usually buys Bonus Match 5 tickets. The 70-year-old plays the same numbers each time and came up with a $50,000 top prize in the May 7 drawing.

The lucky lady visited Daddy Pa’s Convenience & Deli in Brooklyn Park the day of her winning drawing. She went in and did her usual Bonus Match 5 routine, playing her sets of numbers on a $6 ticket. Later that evening, she scanned and checked her ticket with the Maryland Lottery app and was elated to realize she matched five numbers for a $50,000 prize.

“I just kept looking at my phone,” the happy winner said. “It was a really good feeling.”

She immediately shared the great news with a friend. When asked of her plans for her prize, the player said she will pay a lump sum toward her mortgage.

She’s worked for the IRS for the past 13 years. When she’s not working or playing Bonus Match 5, our winner can be found trying her luck at a nearby bingo hall.

Also with reason to celebrate is Daddy Pa’s Convenience & Deli. The Anne Arundel County business located at 4114 Bell Grove Road in Brooklyn Park will receive a $500 bonus for its role in selling a $50,000 top-prize Bonus Match 5 winning ticket.
