Record-Setting $5.1 Million Multi-Match Jackpot Won in Hampstead

Carroll County retailer sells ticket for in-state jackpot game’s largest-ever prize

Congratulations to the winner of our historic $5.1 million Multi-Match jackpot! A lucky player won the largest jackpot in the game’s history in the Monday, May 9 drawing with a ticket purchased at Hampstead Liquors in Carroll County.

The winner, who is the first player to hit a Multi-Match jackpot in 2022, can choose between the estimated annuity of $5.1 million paid in 25 equal installments, or an estimated $3.75 million cash option (before taxes). The winning ticket with the numbers 6, 10, 12, 22, 28 and 38 was sold at Hampstead Liquors located at 721 Hanover Pike in Hampstead. The lucky retailer will receive a $5,100 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The drawing also had 49 tickets matching 5 of 6 numbers for prizes of $1,000 and one ticket matching 10 of 18 numbers on multiple lines for a $2,000 prize.

The Multi-Match jackpot was hit five times in 2021 and was last won by “Country Girl” of Somerset County for $2.2 million on Nov. 4, 2021, and started rolling its way to the record starting with the Nov. 8 drawing.

Multi-Match started in 2006, and its other top jackpot wins to date were $4.8 million on Sept. 19, 2009; $4.45 million on March 18, 2010; $3.8 million on Dec. 16, 2010 and $3.6 million on June 8, 2015.

Lottery officials encourage the winner to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe location. The player has 182 days after the date of the drawing to claim the prize. Players must redeem prizes larger than $25,000 by mail or at Lottery headquarters in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330 in Baltimore.
