Allegany County man in disbelief, even after claiming prize
Maryland’s newest Lottery millionaire claimed the prize of his life on Tuesday,
delivering to Lottery headquarters a FAST PLAY MONOPOLY™ Properties top-prize winning ticket he purchased on Sunday.
The hours between then and his arrival in the Lottery Winner’s Circle were both exciting and nerve-wracking, the Western Maryland resident told Lottery officials. He was very anxious to turn in his $1 million winning ticket. “Now that I’m here and all the paperwork is done, I still can’t believe it.”
The Cumberland man, who has won Lottery prizes in the past, describes this prize as being “beyond our wildest dreams.” The lucky truck driver was taking his wife to work on Sunday when he noticed that their gas tank was nearly empty. His next stop: Circle K #4198 located at 911 East Old Town Road in Cumberland.
“I filled up and went inside to get a coffee,” said the dedicated player. “I had $5 in my pocket so I bought a FAST PLAY game. That won me $25, so I looked for one more to play.” His eyes immediately found MONOPOLY Properties, a $20 game that debuted in January. “I had never played it before so I gave it a shot.”
FAST PLAY games reveal their secrets immediately. When the Allegany County resident saw the million-dollar match, he suspected that something was wrong. “It was very early. I figured the machine might still be firing up.” After running his MONOPOLY Properties ticket through the store’s ticket checker, he let out a loud shout. “All those zeros! The cashier asked if I was okay. I gave him a ‘thumbs up’ and rushed home.”
The husband and wife plan to use their $1 million prize to purchase property they’ve had their eyes on. “This is such a blessing for the family. It will mean so much to us, so much for the kids,” he said.
Our winners aren’t the only people celebrating their Lottery luck. The owners of Circle K #4198 in Allegany County will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $1 million top-prize winning FAST PLAY ticket.
Plenty of prizes remain in the FAST PLAY MONOPOLY Properties game, too. Players can search for 13 more $1 million top prizes as well as 13 second-tier prizes good for $10,000 each.
