Four Maryland artists created images to be featured on upcoming scratch-off ticket
Four talented local residents will hold an art exhibition with a Maryland Lottery twist in a special event on March 7 at the Maryland Home + Garden Show in Timonium.
Join us for the first public showing of the artwork that will be featured on the upcoming Maryland Treasures scratch-off. The event will begin at 11 a.m. on the Main Stage in the Cow Palace at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.
The Lottery will introduce the four winners of last year’s Maryland Treasures Art Contest and unveil poster-sized reproductions of the Maryland Treasures tickets adorned with the artwork they created, depicting imagery familiar to state residents from Oakland to Ocean City.
In July and August 2025, the Lottery invited Marylanders 18 and older to submit original artwork that incorporated elements of the state’s history, culture, traditions or landmarks. Each artist was able to submit up to five pieces for consideration. More than 700 people combined to send us nearly 2,200 pieces of art, and a panel of Lottery staff selected the four illustrations that best connected with the Maryland Treasures theme.
In September we announced the names of the four winning artists, who each won $4,000 for having their work selected. But Saturday’s event marks the first chance for the public to see their artwork. The four artists are:
- Courtney Bindl of Timonium
- Julia Chiplis of Frederick
- Gia Coakley of Mount Airy
- Kevin Richardson of Columbia
The Maryland Treasures ticket will go on sale at more than 4,200 Lottery retailers across the state on March 20. The $2 scratch-off features five top prizes of $10,000 and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $2 to $1,000.
The reveal of the artwork at the Maryland Home + Garden Show will serve as the first of back-to-back Main Stage events focused on creativity. Following the Lottery’s event is a presentation at noon by Craig Conover from the Bravo reality TV series Southern Charm. Conover co-founded the southern-based lifestyle brand Sewing Down South, which specializes in creating pillows, home décor and apparel.
Visit the Maryland Home + Garden Show website for information or to purchase show tickets. And visit the Lottery’s booth on the show floor where visitors 18 and older can spin our prize wheel and play Lottery games.
