Washington, D.C. man claims $1 million top prize on Millionaire’s Club scratch-off
A lucky U.S. Postal Service worker just took a route to and through the Maryland millionaire’s club. The Washington, D.C. resident frequently makes his way across state lines to play Maryland Lottery scratch-offs. He just collected a $1 million top prize on a Millionaire’s Club scratch-off.
The scratch-off enthusiast went to purchase instant tickets at a 7-Eleven located at 4450 Solomons Island Road in Harwood. He told Lottery officials that it was an unplanned stop and he went in to randomly select instant tickets.
After buying several games, the player left Maryland and took the instant tickets home to scratch them. “Thank you, Lord,” is what the happy winner recalls exclaiming after scratching off the $20 Millionaire’s Club instant ticket. He had matched the winning number 54 for the corresponding $1 million top prize in the second row of the game’s play area.
After 30 years of working for the U.S. Postal Service, retirement is now more soundly in reach for the new millionaire. When asked what other plans he had for his winnings, the player said he’s going to pay bills with some of the prize.
His lucky 7-Eleven is also celebrating! Management there will collect a $1,000 Lottery bonus for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off worth $1 million.
The Millionaire’s Club instant ticket went on sale in July with five $1 million top prizes. This win leaves three remaining along with five unclaimed $50,000 prizes, 10 $10,000 prizes and others ranging from $20 to $5,000.
