A woman from York County, Pa., loves the number 7 and loves to play Keno. On Sept. 11, that winning combination put a $40,000 winning ticket in her pocket while she was having lunch in Harford County, on the Maryland side of the border.
The retiree has a tradition of visiting Maryland and going out to lunch with her sister every week. The two play a few games of Keno and sometimes take home a few bucks.
“We normally win enough money to pay for lunch,” the big winner said. On Sept. 11, they were having a meal at Fisherman’s Catch in the Forest Hill Lanes bowling alley at 1 Maurice Drive in Forest Hill. And they made more than enough to cover lunch.
The loyal player picked her usual 8-spot combination of 7-17-27-37-47-57-67-77 and perfectly matched the numbers drawn.
“I play sevens all the time. We looked at it and all of these 7s came out,” she said.
The winner was outside and her sister couldn’t believe her eyes. The sister quickly called her sibling into the building and scanned the ticket with the Lottery app.
It was a $40,000 winner. The Southern Pennsylvania resident said Sept. 16 when she claimed the prize she is undecided as to how she will spend the money, but will probably put it into a savings account.
Fisherman’s Catch will receive a $400 bonus for selling the ticket.
This is the third Harford County retailer to sell a Keno prize of $40,000 or more in 2025. A Bel Air resident won $50,000 last week and another winner from Bel Air took home $60,000 in January. The top 2025 Keno prize of $150,000 was won by a Prince George’s County resident.
