Maryland Veteran Takes Home $50,000 on $50 LUXE Scratch-Off

An Army veteran from Baltimore picked up a $50,000 third-tier prize on the $50 scratch-off game $5,000,000 LUXE, collecting his prize Sept. 8 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

“I liked it because it was a new game, and there were still top prizes remaining,” the winner said. The game has been in sale since Feb. 6, and two of its three original $5 million top prizes, along with seven of 10 prizes at the $200,000 level and eight of 12 third-tier $50,000 prizes remain unclaimed.

According to the Lottery fanatic who has enjoyed playing since the beginning in the 1970s, he went into Maryland Liquors 6024 Liberty Road in Baltimore to purchase his tickets, then checked them while sitting in his car on the parking lot. He scanned his tickets and was left speechless when he saw he had a $50,000 winner.

He went back into the store to verify the win, then rushed home. Since his win he’s kept a low profile and hasn’t shared the news with anyone. But he has thought about how he will spend his windfall.

He plans to spend his winnings paying off his car and getting ahead on bills.
