The Powerball jackpot got a boost to $409 million last night when no one matched all the numbers for the top prize, but three people in Maryland matched the numbers on four white balls plus the red Power Ball for substantial third-tier wins.
An advance ticket sold Sept. 14 in the Calvert County town of North Beach is worth $150,000 and two other Maryland tickets are worth $50,000 each. The $50,000 winners were sold in Lutherville and Middle River, respectively.
The winning numbers for the Monday, Sept. 28, drawing are: 17-21-29-42-49; and the Powerball is 7. All three players matched four of the first five numbers drawn as well as the Powerball. The North Beach player paid an extra $1 for the Power Play option, with increased the prize by a randomly selected multiplier. That multiplier came up as X3 last night, increasing the prize from $50,000 to $150,000.
The $150,000 ticket was sold at the Fastop Food Store at 8834 Chesapeake Avenue in in North Beach.
The $50,000 winners were sold at Martin Exxon at 2333 Eastern Boulevard in Middle River and at the Royal Farms at 501 West Seminary Avenue in Lutherville, both in Baltimore County.
Another 12,451 Maryland Powerball players won prizes ranging from $4 to $100, including 29 who picked up $100 each.
The Lottery encourages the winners to sign the backs of their tickets and keep them in a safe location. All players have 182 days after the date of the drawing to claim the prize.

Lottery headquarters is in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330, in Baltimore. An appointment is required to claim in person (no walk-ins). If you didn’t have a winning ticket, there is another chance on Wednesday night as the Sept. 30 is set at an estimated annuity value of $409 million, with a one-time payment option of $170.2 million.
Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights with a jackpot that starts at $20 million and grows after each drawing in which the jackpot is not won.
Tickets are $2 and are sold in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom. Five winning numbers are drawn from a range of 1 to 69, along with one winning Powerball number from a range of 1 to 26.
