Retired Eastern Shore Man Wins $50,000 for Second Time This Year

Claims top prize in July 18 Bonus Match 5 drawing

An Ocean City fishing enthusiast who won $50,000 playing Pick 5 in March just reeled in a second $50,000 prize on a $2 Bonus Match 5 ticket.

The retired truck driver rolled into Lottery headquarters in Baltimore the day after his lucky July 18 Bonus Match 5 drawing to claim his prize. The 67-year-old played two lines of numbers he chose himself and one quick-pick line, which turned out to be the one that contained the matching numbers that hooked the top prize in the daily draw game.

“I’ve been playing these numbers for years,” he said, and yet it was the quick-pick line that did the trick. “It was my time to hit.”

The loyal player put his prior prize into his retirement fund and into helping his adult kids. This prize will go to pay bills, said the Worcester County resident.

His lucky Lottery retailer was Oceans Market, located at 14107 Coastal Highway in Ocean City. For selling a top-prize-winning Bonus Match 5 ticket, the Worcester County retailer will earn a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
