A retired Temple Hills woman is sitting pretty with a $30,000 Keno win made possible by a stop for gas. In addition to filling up her tank, she also filled her pockets.
The Keno fan, who also enjoys the Pick games, was out running errands on July 14 and getting low on gas. She stopped at the Allentown Exxon at 7713 Allentown Road in Fort Washington to fill up her tank, and also decided to play her regular Lottery games, including Keno.
She picked her own numbers for a single drawing, six-spot ticket with the Super Bonus and watched in astonishment as her numbers appeared on the screen. Exploding with excitement on the inside, she maintained a calm demeanor and nonchalantly left the store.
“I was so excited, but I didn’t want anyone to know,” she smiled. “I got in my car and went straight home.”
Being a regular Keno player, she was familiar with the game and knew she had won a big prize, but she didn’t know exactly how much until she scanned the ticket using the Maryland Lottery app on her phone.
“When I saw it said $30,000, I was so happy,” she told Lottery officials when she claimed the prize on July 30 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The big winner added that she has no immediate plans for her win. She said she’ll put the extra funds into the bank for now.
Celebrating the win with the Temple Hills player is Allentown Exxon, which sold the winning $30,000 Keno ticket. The business receives a $300 bonus.
