Severna Park Man Wins $50K on Powerball During Work Call

Avid fisherman wants new fishing rod

A Severna Park resident took a boring work call and quickly turned it into fun as he won $50,000 on Powerball.

The big winner stopped for gas after work and decided to purchase two Powerball tickets in Anne Arundel County at the Pasadena 7-Eleven at 8301 Ritchie Highway, but forgot about the tickets.

A week later, he remembered he had the tickets and decided to check them during a work call. He started to scan the tickets on his phone and learned he was a third-tier $50,000 winner. The Anne Arundel County man was able to conceal his excitement from the rest of the participants on the call.

“I was able to keep it to myself. I did a good job containing my emotions,” he said with a big grin.

He was a winner on the Saturday, Oct. 5 Powerball drawing. The numbers that evening were 2, 12, 46, 52 and 65; the Powerball was 3. He had 65 instead of 50.

The avid fisherman plans to purchase a new fishing rod and will use the rest for home improvement projects.

The next Powerball drawing is set for Saturday, Oct. 19 with the estimated jackpot annuity for $437 million with an estimated cash option of $210.3 million.
