A fan of the Maryland Lottery scratch-off games, a Montgomery County man said he is too excited after scratching his way to a top prize on one of them. The Silver Spring resident claimed a $100,000 top prize Nov. 19 on the popular MONOPOLYTM X50 game.
The player was running errands when he stopped at the El Toro Wine and Liquors specifically to play a few Lottery scratch-offs. He prefers the $10 and $20 games and among his purchases that day was the MONOPOLYTM X50 ticket.
“I like the higher priced games because the prizes are larger,” he said when he claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
Fortunatly for him, one of the prizes won on his tickets was very large. After scanning the MONOPOLYTM X50 game, a $100,000 top prize was revealed. In shock, he asked the cashier to scan the ticket to confirm the huge win.
“I was so excited, I had to call my wife right away,” he said. “She was so happy.”
The HVAC Technician wasted no time, making an appointment to claim his windfall within the week. The father of three said he plans to use some the winnings for the upcoming holidays and will save the rest.
El Toro Wine and Spirits gets to celebrate too. The Lottery retailer at 9107 Riggs Road in Adelphi receives a $1,000 bonus equal to 1% of the prize total.
Meanwhile, big prizes are still available on the Monopoly X50 game. The ticket went on sale starting with 10 prizes a the top tier $100,000 level and now only two remain unclaimed. In addition, there are three $50,000 wins up for grabs as well as a slew of other prizes ranging from $10 though $10,000.
The MONOPOLYTM X50 scratch-off from the Maryland Lottery is licensed by Scientific Games, LLC. It went on sale in January 2025 as part of a Maryland Lottery family of MONOPOLYTM games.
