A Montgomery County woman, filling up her gas tank, also filled up her pockets with a $168,860 FAST PLAY High Roller Blackjack progressive jackpot prize.
On April 22, the Silver Spring player stopped at Georgia Fuel and Treats to get gas. An occasional Lottery player, she decided to pick up a few games, including a $10 FAST PLAY High Roller Blackjack ticket. She scanned the ticket at the counter and received a “Congratulations” message, but it didn’t reveal how much. A glance at the ticket revealed the prize amount, but she was still a bit shocked.
“I’m thinking I won one of the smaller prizes,” she smiled when she spoke with Lottery officials. “I was shocked that it was $168,860.”
The lucky lady, who works in the medical field, contained her excitement and drove home. To be certain about her prize, she scanned the ticket using the Maryland Lottery app on her phone.
The big winner wasn’t quite sure what to do at this point, so she searched how to claim a prize. She said it took her a couple of weeks to come to Lottery headquarters because she wanted to make sure she had all of her documents in order. She claimed the prize on May 12.
The player, still cautious, shared with Lottery officials that she’ll be more excited when she actually receives the check. She said she plans to buy a condominium with her winnings and will put some of it into savings.
Celebrating along with the winner is the Lottery retailer that sold the winning ticket. Georgia Fuel and Treats, located at 9336 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring receives a $1,000 bonus.
The FAST PLAY High Roller Blackjack game has 25 progressive jackpots remaining after this win. Each time the jackpot is hit, it resets grows each time a ticket is sold.
