Small Scratch-Off Win Leads to $100,000 FAST PLAY Score

Anne Arundel County player plans to invest in real estate

A Maryland Lottery scratch-off player from Pasadena scored a $10 win on March 8, turned around and bought a FAST PLAY Towering 10s ticket that hit for $100,000.

“It was a spur of the moment kind of thing,” the player said on March 10 while claiming his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

“I was very shocked,” he said of realizing he had hit for such a princely sum. The Anne Arundel County resident was playing while at Royal Farms #062 at 1818 Baltimore Boulevard in Westminster.

Mainly a fan of scratch-off games, the 40-year-old was talking with a friend who enjoys FAST PLAY so he figured he would give the $10 Towering 10s game a shot. He says the friend is going to be a little shocked to hear of the magnitude of his win.

The lucky player said he will probably invest the windfall in real estate. Meanwhile, he plans to continue playing Maryland Lottery scratch-offs and will likely add FAST PLAY games to his repertoire.

“I’ll probably have to do both now!”

The Towering 10s game went on sale in July 2022 with 30 prizes at the top $100,000 tier level and the Pasadena player’s win was the fifth for that amount. In addition, there are 18 prizes remaining at the $50,000 level, 28 at the $20,000 level and 27 at the $10,000 level, as well thousands of other lower-tier prizes.

For selling a top-tier FAST PLAY winner, the Royal Farms store receives a bonus of $1,000 from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
