Harford County man sole winner in Jan. 18 Bonus Match 5 drawing
A two-time Bonus Match 5 top-prize winner just got his first full serving of the $50,000 prize. In July 2024, the Harford County man scored a top-prize win in the game but had to share it with holders of 25 other top-prize winning tickets. His Lottery luck returned in full force on Jan. 18, however, when the Forest Hill resident had the only top-prize winning ticket in the drawing.
He bought the $6 ticket at the Sunoco located at 2019 Rock Spring Road in Forest Hill. The Bonus Match 5 fan bought a single ticket with nine game boards. Four of the boards featured his own number selections, consisting of ages and birthdates of family members. The five remaining boards were all terminal-selected quick-pick numbers.
On the evening of the drawing, the supply chain manager checked the winning numbers against those on his ticket and learned that one of the quick-pick lines had given him another $50,000 top-prize win. The happy player plans to pay bills with the prize and then share the remainder of the windfall with his wife. When not working, he enjoys refurbishing furniture and spending time with family.
The winner had to share his previous prize because game rules limit the top-prize pool to $600,000. If there are more than 12 top-prize winning game boards, the $600,000 pool is divided equally among those holding the winning tickets.
Forest Hill Sunoco also gets to share in the Lottery luck. The business will collect a $500 Lottery bonus for selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket worth $50,000.
