Thanksgiving Day Purchase Makes Entrepreneur $50,000 Richer

Bonus Match 5 quick-pick ticket hits in Nov. 23 drawing

An Owings Mills woman who plays Bonus Match 5, Powerball and Mega Millions enjoyed a sweet side dish of Lottery luck on Thanksgiving Day. She is now $50,000 richer after winning a Bonus Match 5 top prize.

The entrepreneur was on a work break on Thanksgiving Day when she visited Quick Mart in Randallstown specifically to play her favorite Lottery games. An $18 Bonus Match 5 quick-pick ticket for three drawings was among the tickets she purchased. The lucky lady went back to work and didn’t think about checking her games until later that evening.

“I was still working and I called my husband to check the numbers for me,” said the Baltimore County resident. “He was so astonished that he came to my work to tell me I won, in person.”

The winner’s husband and her daughter arrived at her job to share the great news. The three of them checked and double-checked the ticket and even went back to the Lottery retailer to have an employee check the ticket for a win.

“I had to literally pinch myself because I did not believe it,” the winner said, smiling.

The mother of three adult children told Lottery officials she plans to use some of the prize to cover a portion of her youngest daughter’s college expenses. She also will invest some of the windfall and use the rest of the funds to start a new business.

Her lucky retailer, Quick Mart located at 8601 Liberty Road in Randallstown, also benefits for its role in sending her to the Lottery Winner’s Circle. The Baltimore County store receives a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning ticket in the game.
