No one has matched all six Powerball numbers since early September, pushing the jackpot to more than $1 billion. But in last week’s three drawings, six Powerball players in Maryland were off by one, matching five of six winning numbers for prizes ranging from $50,000 to $1 million.
The six big Powerball tickets were among 33 Maryland Lottery wins of $10,000 or more in the past week, which also included three $100,000 scratch-off prizes on tickets sold in Cambridge, Oxon Hill and Silver Spring.
With the Powerball jackpot continuing to grow each time no one matches all six winning numbers, the jackpot has hit an estimated annuity value of $1.1 billion for the Dec. 15 drawing, with an estimated one-time payment option of $503.4 million. Last week’s Powerball drawings delivered a $1 million prize in Lanham; a $150,000 prize in Hughesville; and $50,000 prizes on tickets sold in Bel Air, Clements, Frederick and Silver Spring.
During the week of Dec. 8-14, players across Maryland won more than $29 million on all Lottery games.
Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing date. Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes up to $25,000 can be claimed at the cashier window of any of the six casinos in Maryland. Prizes up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations.
