A “gift” of green and a chance to win even more? Westminster resident Ryan Baker and Patricia Themelis of Nottingham each won $3,500 and $600 worth of Gifts of Green scratch-off tickets.
Ryan Baker of Westminster and Patricia Themelis of Nottingham are seeing a lot of green and hope to see even more as two of the four winners selected in the latest Maryland Lottery Go for the Green Second-Chance Promotion drawing.
Ryan, Patricia, and two other winners, each received $3,500 and $600 worth of Gifts of Green scratch-off tickets, which carry a top prize of $500,000.
Ryan said he was following the second-chance promotion and went to mdlottery.com shortly after the first drawing to see if he was a winner. He was pleasantly surprised with the results.
“I looked and saw the name Ryan Baker, and the city was Westminster. I couldn’t believe it,” he said
Patricia said she had played just a few of the scratch-offs eligible for the promotion before the drawing.
“My husband said I was making too much of a mess with scratch-offs so I started to play FAST PLAYs,” Patricia said with a smile. Luckily, she entered enough scratch-offs to qualify.
Both winners said they plan to save their winnings, telling Lottery officials that their unexpected “gift” of green would head straight to the bank.
Scratch-off players can enter any non-winning $30 and $50 scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards to secure entries into the Go for the Green Second-Chance Promotion through July 20.
Four winners will get selected in each of the six drawings (24 winners in all). Each winner will receive one pack of $20 Gifts of Green scratch-offs (a $600 value) and $3,500 cash.
