It was a chilly night across Maryland, but a player in Hagerstown hit for $50,000 on a hot Powerball ticket. Just one day earlier, a FAST PLAY ticket, also sold in Hagerstown, put $156,581 in a Pennsylvania woman’s pocket.
For the Powerball win, the winning numbers are: 9, 17, 36, 47, 64 and a Powerball of 26. The Hagerstown ticket matched four of the first five balls drawn plus the Powerball for a third-tier win. The ticket was sold at Martin’s Food at 1729 Dual Highway in Washington County.
A total of 7,453 players in Maryland won Powerball prizes ranging from $4 to $100 in the April 20 drawing. There were no jackpot winners, however, so the jackpot for the drawing on April 22 will have an estimated annuity value of $100 million, with a cash option of $45.6 million.
The $156,581 FAST PLAY win came on the $5 Cash Combination ticket when a woman from nearby Waynesboro, Pa., won the progressive jackpot. She bought her ticket at the ROCS convenience store at 18404 Maugans Avenue, less than 10 miles from the Martin’s where the big Powerball ticket was sold. The winner and her husband claimed the prize April 20 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
Powerball tickets cost $2, with drawings held Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights.
Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Both the Powerball and Double Play drawings have nine prize tiers, with Powerball prizes ranging from $4 up to the jackpot and Double Play prizes ranging from $7 for matching just the Powerball to $10 million for matching all numbers drawn.
