A Gaithersburg dad was all smiles April 20 after claiming a $50,000 prize he won on the Lucky 777 scratch-off.
He was on his way home from work when he decided to visit a gas station to purchase a ticket.
According to the delivery driver, he noticed that 25 of his 30 numbers in the ticket play area had the “Autowin” symbol on them. He had multiple prizes of $100, $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000, but there were so many he decided to ask the clerk to scan the ticket to be sure of the winning amount.
When it was revealed that he had a $50,000 second-tier winner, the Montgomery County resident said he was in shock.
“I was happy and got excited when I saw it was a winner,” he said.
The big winner enjoys spending time with his daughter and playing soccer. He plans to invest his winnings.
The ticket was purchased at the Shell station at 501 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg.
The $20 Lucky 777 scratch-off went on sale in May 2025 with six top prizes of $1 million and eight second-tier prizes of $50,000. Three of the $1 million prizes remain unclaimed. The Gaithersburg dad is the fifth second-tier winner, so three $50,000 prizes remain unclaimed.
