$20K-Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold in College Park; Jackpot at $413M

The Mega Millions jackpot is getting larger and is making winners in Maryland as it grows.

A $20,000 third-tier winner was purchased in College Park for last night’s game. College Park Xtra Fuel at 8721 Baltimore Avenue in Prince George’s County was the store that sold the ticket.

The winning numbers for the June 9 Mega Millions drawing are: 09, 30, 36, 38, and 40, with a Mega Ball of 03. The player who bought the $20,000-winning ticket matched four of the five balls drawn, with the Mega Ball. The base prize for such a win is $10,000 but the player’s ticket had an automatic X2 multiplier, boosting the prize to $20,000.

This is the second straight drawing that a Maryland retailer has sold a $20,000-winning ticket after an Essex restaurant sold another winner on Friday night.

No one has hit the jackpot since an Illinois player was a $536 million winner on March 10, and Friday night’s jackpot is at an estimated annuity value of $413 million with an estimated cash option of $182.6 million.

Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing. The last date to claim scratch-offs is listed on the game’s tile on the scratch-off page.

Instructions for claiming prizes are available on the How to Claim page of the Lottery website. Prizes of more than $25,000 must be claimed through Lottery headquarters, either in person or by mail. Lottery headquarters is in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330, in Baltimore. An appointment is required to claim in person (no walk-ins). The appointment scheduling page shows all available appointment times.
