A Clarksburg woman likes to play her favorite Lottery games while out grocery shopping. She usually finds herself playing Multi-Match, but on Sept. 4 she opted for a Bonus Match 5 quick pick ticket instead, resulting in a $50,000 payday.
The Montgomery County resident bought her ticket at the Wegmans supermarket at 20600 Seneca Meadows Parkway in Germantown. Instead of buying a ticket for a single drawing, she purchased six drawings, starting with the one on the evening of Sept. 4 and continuing through Sept. 9. She got her lucky break on the seventh as she matched numbers 1, 21, 24, 33, and 34 giving her the $50,000 top prize.
She was at home when she checked her ticket and learned she had won. It was such a shocker that she had to check her numbers six times before believing what she was seeing and moving to the next step of sharing news with family.
As of Sept. 25 when she claimed the prize, she and her husband had shared the news only with their children.
Although very excited about her new-found windfall, she hasn’t made any plans. She is retired and enjoys spending time hiking, going on day trips and eating at restaurants.
The Wegmans receives a $500 bonus for selling the top-tier winner.
