Basketball Coach Gets Fast Break to Lottery Win

Plans to spend $38,353.50 Racetrax prize on equipment for his team

A basketball coach scored a winning drive to victory recently in a game that involves a finish line rather than a basket. The Lottery Racetrax player from Edgewood won $38,353.50 with a Superfecta Wheel bet and plans to share the riches from his Lottery luck with those he coaches.

The 40-year-old found his big win at Edgewood Amoco BP located at 2201 Pulaski Highway in Harford County. He placed a 50-cent Superfecta Wheel bet on horses 5, 6 and 7 to finish in first, second and third place and then picked horses 7 or 8 to finish in fourth place. He added the Bonus option to his ticket and paid for 20 drawings. That’s just how his picks crossed the finish line! A triple Bonus in the winning game gave our lucky coach his five-figure prize.

The Racetrax fan plays several times a week, often winning small amounts. This is his biggest prize to date, he reported. While he kept his cool with the big prize, he told Lottery officials that his wife was really excited.

When asked of his plans for his winnings, the player said he will buy a basketball machine for the players he coaches and the remainder will go toward something nice for his wife.

His Lottery retailer, the Edgewood Amoco BP, also wins. The business gets a $383.53 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket over $10,000.
