Grocery Game Purchase Gives Rockville Gal $1.4 Million Prize

Wins Multi-Match jackpot with quick-pick ticket

“Why not,” is what a Rockville woman says to herself when she visits the grocery store and sees Maryland Lottery games. The 20-year-old decided to let herself play recently and the odds were definitely in her favor. She purchased a Multi-Match quick-pick ticket for the April 22 drawing and, to her great surprise, won $1.4 million.

“I just got lucky,” the happy winner said. After buying groceries, she uses her change to buy Lottery tickets and didn’t suspect to land a jackpot prize. “I was very surprised, I was not expecting it at all.” In addition to playing Multi-Match, she enjoys playing Mega Millions and Powerball.

When asked of her plans for the windfall, the Montgomery County resident said she plans to make investments with her prize.

This lucky lady won the second of the three Multi-Match jackpots hit in 2021. A Baltimore County woman won a $2.75 million jackpot on Feb. 4 on a ticket sold by 7-Eleven #32287 in Owings Mills. And, a Multi-Match subscriber just won a $520,000 jackpot in the May 3 drawing.

Our player’s winning Lottery retailer, Giant #319 located at 625 Hungerford Drive in Rockville, can also celebrate. The Lottery will give the grocery a $1,400 bonus for selling a winning Multi-Match ticket of more than $1 million.
