Positive Vibes Bring $300,000 Pick 5 Windfall

Prince George’s County man wins with six $1 tickets

A self-described jack-of-all-trades visited Lottery headquarters this week to deliver six top-prize winning Pick 5 tickets. The $300,000 prize he collected, the biggest total claimed at one time in the twice-daily game this year, is, he’s convinced, a product of his unique outlook on life.

“I’m just a regular guy, live a regular life, so it’s not like I can do that much,” the husband and father explained to Lottery officials. “But if you look and listen for the opportunities as you go about your day, there are so many ways to help people.” That’s his philosophy with everybody – family, friends, neighbors and strangers.

The Prince George’s County resident is the guy people turn to if they need to borrow tools, could use an extra hand with a home project or if they just need a ride. “If I can, I help people.  Pretty simple.” He does this, he told officials, without looking for any kind of reimbursement.  “I’m a believer in karma, so I figure the positivity and generosity will come back to me in some way.”

This is where Pick 5 enters the story.

Our $300,000 winner is a long-time Lottery fan and has taken home several big prizes over the years. He plays Pick 5 exclusively and uses important family dates for his numbers. He also buys multiple tickets with those same combinations. “I buy tickets because I enjoy playing.” Buying tickets also, he suggests, creates an opportunity for karma to find him.

“Some will say that I’ve just been very lucky with these big wins, and that may be the case,” he admits. “But I like to think it’s the world returning the positive vibes I’ve been sending out.  Either way, this is a real blessing.”

Whether through random luck or karma, it was Triangle Shell in Hyattsville that helped our winner’s Pick 5 surprise happen. He bought six tickets, playing $1 straight for 13 drawings to win big in the May 1 midday drawing. The Prince George’s County business is located at 6510 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway. Management there received a $3,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the six top-prize winning tickets.
